Busting the Common Step-Parenting Myths

June 30th from 6:30-8:00pm

790 Turnpike Street, Suite #102

North Andover, MA

An in person workshop for step-parents and step-parents-to-be.

Your step-parenting experience can often feel like it comes with no clear guidelines and lots of potential landmines…

As a step-parent, there are so many mixed messages out there about how you should feel, what your role should be, and whether you’re doing it “right.” You may have heard or even thought to yourself at times that:

  • You should have known what you were getting into...

  • You’re supposed to love your step-kids like your own...

  • Talking about your needs and boundaries is selfish...

Trying to make sense of all of these messages, along with the way you’re feeling in your own specific step-parenting role, can feel overwhelming and exhausting.

Join me, a fellow step-parent and parenting therapist, as we challenge some of those widespread myths, and offer you a space to get some judgment-free support and validation.

You’ll leave the evening with:

  • A new roadmap for understanding your blended family, and the reasons why it’s fundamentally different from a first-time family

  • New language to help you better understand your unique role in your blended family, and better communicate that to your partner (and others)

  • Tangible skills to help you better manage all of the complexities and stresses of being a step-parent

  • Validation that you’re not alone, and a sense of community with other step-parents facing similar challenges in their own blended families
